Family house Utrecht
The authentic appearance of this nineteenth-century mansion in a shady part of Utrecht was still standing proudly, but the interior was begging for a drastic rejuvenation. With respect for the original structure, the house was transformed into a family home. By moving a number of doors and adding an extension at the rear, the functions on the ground floor are fully developed. The first floor is the parents' domain, with a study, a cloakroom and a spacious bedroom and bathroom. The second floor is reserved for the children, with two bedrooms, a playroom and bathroom. Remy's colour palette is optimally implemented in this house, whereby the used materials provide extra tension. The terrazzo that pops up in various places forms a central theme, with a nod to the history of the building.
